 Spirit Night - Feb 19, 2009

OUR NEW JERSEYS

(Pictured from L to R: Rob Reimer, MC, Kirsten Reimer, Tien Nguyen, and Brittany Timko, guest speaker)

Spirit Night was held on Thursday, February 19 to unveil the name of our new soccer club.
Our MC, Rob Reimer, talked about the process of choosing the name and the significance of our new logo before its unveiling:

"The name chosen for our new soccer club is representative of recent soccer events here in Sherwood Park.
As of tonight, soccer is reborn here in Sherwood Park.
There is a mythical sacred firebird that has a beautiful tail of fire red and golden plumage.
In the myth, this firebird periodically reinvents itself through fire and ash, each time a young firebird emerges.
This firebird is also said to regenerate when hurt or wounded by a foe, making it near invincible and immortal.
This firebird is known as the Phoenix.
Ladies and Gentlemen, girls and boys, your new Sherwood Park Soccer Club, the Sherwood Park Phoenix Football Club!"
